Laithy Architects + Associates is a Tel-Aviv based architectural practice. I was commissioned to develop a new visual identity for the practice, which included monogram, logotype and stationery design, that would appear distinctive, contemporary and professional, and leveraged clear architectural design cues such as space, shape, material, process, light and shade.

Monogram, logotype and business cards designed by Richard Baird for LW Roofing Services.

 

LW Roofing Services is an Australian business that specialises in roof and gutter repair and build. I was commissioned to develop a new visual identity that would be far more restrained and polished, and would convey experience, reliability and quality.

The solution is a fusion of traditional craftsmanship cues, typographical detail and contemporary reduction in the form of a monogram, logotype and business cards. The monogram’s heavy, consistent, single line weight and stencil cut detail quickly establishes a solid and robust quality with the initials LW acting as the foundations of a good roof.

Taryn recently approached me to develop a brand identity solution, which went on to include two logotypes and a stationery set, that would compliment and frame her work, have a contemporary femininity and convey high quality and professionalism.

Wieske Design is the Ontario based interior design studio of Alyssa M. Wieske whose approach balances a modernistic view of space, classic design influences, contemporary furniture and high quality detailing.

Since graduating, Alyssa has found that while she has a number of well designed spaces in her portfolio felt that her youthful appearance was having a detrimental effect on the way potential clients assessed her ability. To counter this, Richard worked with Alyssa to develop a new brand identity and stationery solution that would deliver a sense of authority and take advantage of the relationship between perceived expense and success/experience whilst also conveying some of her philosophies.

New Soda is a UK based kitchen and homeware brand that manufactures simple yet innovative, brightly coloured and high quality plastic gadgets. They have won a number of awards for their revolutionary flat colander Sinkstation and have a growing line of new products.

The brand’s personality and product line, described by New Soda director Damon Meredith as having both playful and functional sides, was resolved through a clear and distinctive typographic contrast of serif and sans-serif, uppercase and lowercase characters and the use and absence of frames.

Solis is the fashion label of Tel Aviv based Lisa Grishakova, a women’s clothing designer who balances texture, colour and pattern to create her collections.

The label’s new visual identity, created by Richard Baird, was designed to convey the high quality detail of Lisa’s garments, the warmth and radiance evoked by the brand name, leverage established and familiar fashion cues, through a combination of gold foil, weighty material choice, debossed surface treatment and fine line work.
